2019, "Tree Of Life" - marble sculpture
This original hand carved solid white marble sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the skilful professional Bulgarian sculptor Rasho Mitev, deeply inspired by modernism and naturalism. It represents one beautiful tree of life figure in unique surrealistic figurative fashion. The tree of life is recounted in folklore, culture and fiction, often relating to immortality or fertility. It is our connection to heaven and the underworld, and at the same time it is connecting all forms of creation. It is the symbol of life and prosperity on our planet.
The main sculptural art object is hand carved solid marble, polished and organic in color and shape. The pedestal base is solid limestone plate. There are traces and skeletons of sea shells, turned into stone. Limestone is formed from ancient sea beds. Marble is first limestone before crystallizing its structure. It means that marble material is limestone material before its structure gets crystallized in millions of years. So the artist's concept is that the tree of life is growing out of its original form and structure, finding its way towards the heavens. The life of our planet is natural at the beginning and figurative, cultural and polished at its revealing.
