This original acrylic painting is one of the latest artworks of the talented contemporary Bulgarian professional artist Nikola Gulev. The painting explores the inner space, as a place inhabited by memories, glances and unlived events. The female figure is motionless, almost meditative. This is not weakness, but contemplation. It can be read as a guardian, a mediator between the real and the inner, a figure of time. Her hair is not a form, it is a territory that carries the eyes (looks from the past). It carries color impulses (emotions). It creates the movement of time, a cartography of the psyche. The eyes can be interpreted as an inner vessel. They are not aggressive, but quiet and persistent. This is exactly what makes them more disturbing. The key as a main symbol carries: truth, forgotten knowledge, fateful choice.
