Solo exhibition by Teodora Dobreva-Zlatanova

June 03 - 22, 2022, Integrated Artists Gallery

Sofia 1202, 33 “Sv. Sv. Kiril and Metodiy” Street

Opening: June 3rd, 5-9 p.m.

The exhibition presents the latest artworks of the talented Bulgarian artist Teodora Dobreva, linocut on handmade paper in ceramic frames. The presented works reveal her picturesque sceneries, through the means of linocut and ceramic sgraffito. For this purpose, the two natural materials are used - clay and paper, which is entirely handmade by her.

"Working on the theme of Resonance in a series of artworks, I tried to develop the relationship between different genres and entities in a harmonious composition unity. Each piece includes separate engravings, played out on a modular basis and alternating rhythmically, vertically and horizontally. In connection with the characteristics of the two natural materials, I aimed to include the following pairs of opposites: durable and non-durable; fire-earth and air-water; hardness and softness; density and transparency; weight and lightness. The plots of the images touch on the question of the individual and the general as a process in which through the connection of a person with himself the connection with the whole is achieved. The idea that it is through the differences between individual beings and their resonance on a common wave that a meaningful and natural interaction is achieved seems to me to be especially relevant in the contemporary reality.”

Teodora Dobreva was born in Sofia. He graduated Painting speciality from the Iliya Petrov Secondary School of Fine Arts in 2002 and in Pedagogy of Fine Arts Education at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” in 2010. In 2019 she completed a one-year training course: Theory and Practice - Expressive Art Therapy - Basic Level at the Institute of Therapy and Expressive Arts, Sofia. She has numerous participations in general art exhibitions, as well as several realizations in the field of illustration. Since 2010 she has been working with children as a teacher of fine arts in state schools and private schools.
